It is unfortunate that people are mislead into believing that they are learning kickboxing when they are just throwing some punches and kicks during an aerobics work out. At Ann Arbor Martial Arts Center you will learn real kickboxing. What’s the difference? It really comes down to teaching good technique. We take the time to show you how to do things right. There is no point in throwing a large number of punches with bad form at a bag. Great for burning calories but eventually you will get hurt. With good technique you will actually hit much harder and drastically reduce your chances of injury.

If you want to get shape, cardio kickboxing will do the job, but why waste your time! In the same amount of time, you could get the same workout but learn real skills. But what if I am not athletic. We specialize in students with little to no experience. This means you do not have to worry about being the new student in class. We have a friendly environment that focuses on growth and development. Classes are fun, high energy and a great workout. In each class we drill the basic techniques kickboxing.
This is not Tae Bo, Cardio Karate, Fitness Kickboxing, etc.
We train with the Machado Creed, “Leave your ego at the door.” This means we will work with you at your level. Beginners do not spar (throw live punches and kicks) until they are ready. Most students are actually trying to talk us into letting them spar sooner because of how confident they feel with their new skills!
