With proper technique you will hit harder and reduce the chances of injuries. It is unfortunate that people are mislead into believing that they are learning kickboxing when they are just throwing some punches and kicks during an aerobics work out. At Ann Arbor Martial Arts Center you will learn real kickboxing. What's the difference? It really comes down to teaching good technique. We take the time to show you how to do things right. There is no point in throwing a large number of punches with bad form at a bag. Great for burning calories but eventually you will get hurt. With good technique you will actually hit much harder and drastically reduce your chances of injury.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the most dynamic and effective martial arts systems in the world. At Ann Arbor Martial Arts Center you can learn all of the little known secrets of Brazilain Jiu-Jitsu in a safe, clean and relaxed atmosphere. Today, there is not a single professional mma fighter who does not consider ground work a critical component to heir success in winning a fight. According to police statistics 8 out of 10 physical confrontations end up on the ground. The goal of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is to use leverage to control and submit your opponent. Submissions include joint locks, chokes, and superior positions from which to strike. Even a basic understanding of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can dramatically increase your confidence and ability to defend yourself on the ground, where so many confrontations end.

Mixed Martial Arts

If you have an interest in Mixed Martial Arts, please train at a school that offers a high level of instruction while in a safe and clean environment. There are many schools claiming to be able to teach Mixed Martial Arts but you need to be very careful. You are simply doing karate without a uniform. Even worse, other schools are fight clubs that don't teach anything. You will spend most or your time sparring, trying to learn by trial and error while getting hurt.

The goal of our Mixed Martial Arts Program (also known as Vale Tudo, MMA, NHB and Cage Fighting) is to teach students how combine the most effective aspects of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Dirty Boxing, Submission Wrestling, Muay Thai and Traditional Martial Arts. The Ultimate Fighting Championship has shown everyone what really works in a one on one fighting situation. It's a fun exciting workout that never gets boring!

 

Combat Fitness

Combat Fitness is for students who want to get in shape learning MMA with less contact. Are you bored with your current work out routine. This is the last workout you will ever need! Combat Fitness (MMA) is great for Flexibility, Cardio Fitness, Muscle Toning and Self Defense. No other workout burns more fat, more calories or builds and tones muscle as well. In each class you will be using movements and conditioning drills that Professional MMA fighters use to get into the best shape possible. The night before the next Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), watch the weigh in. You will some of the best conditioned athletes in the world. There bodies are ripped!

Our members will tell you that this class is way more fun than the gym, fitness bootcamps, personal training, health clubs, weight lifting and is hands down the best way to lose weight, and get in great shape. The best part is that you are actually learning real fighting skills while you work out. Your learning proper technique from coaches who work with real fighters!

Tae Kwon Do

Our Tae Kwon Do classes offer a well-rounded curriculum that teaches the fundamental skills of blocking, punching, kicking and footwork. These skills are further developed through the practice of (ITF) forms. These are prearranged movements against imaginary opponents. Forms develop focus, balance and coordination. We also practice our skills against more realistic attacks with partner drills. As students advance they train in drills (free sparring) that allows them to mix their attacks and counters at will. This is done with control and while wearing protective gear.

MMA Fight Team

Discover the skills needed to be a winner in amateur MMA. Mixed Martial Arts is continuously evolving. That is why it is important to keep an open mind, humble attitude and try to learn from every training session. Are fighters strive to be winners in the cage, but more importantly champions in life.

Train with Pro Fighter Danny McIntire. He has had the privilege of training at some the best gyms in the country' Extreme Couture, American Top Team, Wand Fight Team and our favorite Roufusport. He has trained with Anthony Pettis, Pat Barry, Alan Belcher, Mike Brown, Red Schaffer, Eric Koch and Danny Downes.
